Jus Cowland Photography is participating in the National Charity Model Search to select “America’s Cutest Kid” and to raise funds for charity.

We’re looking for cute children ages 18 months to 14 years old to model for a portrait to be entered into the contest.

Models Search Special:
$15 entrance fee, which includes a 15 minute model session and one image submitted to the national gallery.

Finalists will be determined by online votes. Anyone may vote. Each vote is $1, and all proceeds from votes benefit the non-profit Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep. (NILMDTS.org)

Grand prize national winner will be determined from the 50 city finalists. Winners selected by photography and modeling industry experts.

If your child is selected the national winner, you’ll receive many prizes, including a $5,000 US Savings Bond and a Canon PowerShot G10 digital camera.

If you’re interested in entering your child(ren), please call the studio at 321-243-9298. For more information about the contest, go online to www.sandypucmodels.com.

Is your child America’s Cutest Kid?
I have always wanted a big studio with lots of lighting filled with bright white and soft colors to photograph kids just being kids. Things that don't help this constant daydreaming are cute magazines like SMALL.
They don't make it easy to not wanna run out there and stalk moms carrying toddlers with my camera! A lot of the things that are advertised in this magazine are made/designed in European countries so the styles are so fresh and new.

Sometimes this magazine makes me want another baby so that I can dress her in all these beautiful clothes.

This magazine is online and it is free. They really do have such cute things.

Oh then there is this! I love the work by Erin Tyner, she creates such amazing images. She is featured in this issue as well and I am so excited to see her work! Here is a sampling.

I'm preparing for my next newsletter and so excited to be working on it. This magazine has given me such inspiration for the Spring Edition of my newsletter! I have so many exciting things to share and can't wait to send it out.

Now I'm off to drink my dbl chai tea. My husband bought a different brand of chai, Tzao. It isn't as strong as Celestial Seasonings Chai, but it is organic. So I guess it will do for now. Things have been changing around the Cowland household for a couple of months. Some of it brought on by medical reasons some of it because we needed change {we = i} and I'm happy to soak it all in.
Take care!

I leave you with this... so cute...

It's the littlest things
Welcome to my very first series. I want to introduce to you some of the fury family members that make up the Cowland household. Each one of our pets has a unique personality, and we like it that way.

First, say hello to Hobbes, "Hello Hobbes".
If you can't tell Hobbes is an orange tabby. I'm not a cat person really, but both of our cats have integrated well in our family and it has been nice. It took some time to adjust to Hobbes and for Hobbes to adjust to us, but in the end she has melded in well.

The reason why we have Hobbes is because when my husband moved from the UK to here, he had to give away his new kitten Monster. She was an adorable tuxedo kitten with green eyes! And she made the funniest noises. While my husband was alone in London, he got monster to help him through the lonely days and nights without my daughter and I. I felt really bad so I saw an ad for a orange tabby kitten that had been rescued. When we went to visit, this poor kitty had flea-anemia so badly they had to give strong antibiotics all the time. You wouldn't know this kitty was sick though the way it played about. Anyway, the woman who let us adopt Hobbes told us we'd have to get Hobbes neutered soon. When we picked Hobbes up from the SPCA we learned she had been spayed. Apparently she was so sick that no one knew the sex of the kitten. She had been found in a box behind a dumpster covered from whisker to tail in fleas who were literally sucking the life from her.

She is still tiny and very skittish. She makes the silliest faces and talks out the window. She let's you know what is on her mind and when she isn't happy. She is also the one we have to watch out for the most. Moving 2x in 2 consecutive years kept her under our bed except to use the litter box and eat for 6 months. She has recently started to come out and join the rest of the world and she is a cutie. She hates to be held, but still loves to play and to be stroked.

She is an important part of our family and we are honored to be her "people".

My next post will be about our newest family member, Black Jack.
Meet the Pets Series
I was perusing my friend Amanda's blog and found this. It is really neat, so I wanted to do it too...

  • I AM … in love.
  • I WANT… to be a size 9 again.
  • I HAVE … a gorgeous husband
  • I KEEP … too much stuff to use some other time.
  • I WISH I COULD … travel more
  • I HATE … judgmental people
  • I FEAR … not living or experiencing everything that life has to offer
  • I HEAR … MGMT
  • I DON’T THINK … I want to eat at buffets anymore
  • I REGRET … not being a better friend and not being treated better
  • I LOVE … my daughter
  • I AM NOT … going to live in this house or city forever
  • I DANCE … like no one is watching
  • I SING … all the time
  • I NEVER … shut up.
  • I RARELY … see myself how others see me
  • I CRY WHEN I WATCH … really well made films
  • I AM NOT ALWAYS … serious, I laugh and joke A LOT
  • I HATE THAT … I'm not skinny
  • I’M CONFUSED ABOUT … why I feel stuck...
  • I NEED … a big hug
  • I SHOULD … get a new hair cut, but I won't.

I invite you to do this too :)
Simple Things
Here are some more from Amanda's TTD session in Winter Park. This chica is up for ANYTHING.

More TTD Amanda M.

Last Sunday I had the pleasure of doing a TTD session for another photographer in my area, Amanda McMahon. She's uber cool and super sweet.

A Teaser
I think he brought it. Yes, yes he did.

MMMhhhmmmm go'head
I don't remember the last time Friday the 13th happened before Valentine's, but I'm afraid I find it creepy.

I'm not a horror flick-chick, I prefer they to be watched by someone who's truly a fan. But I am superstitious thanks to Stevie Wonder.

Anyhoo, what to do on Valentine's if 1) it comes directly AFTER Friday the 13th? and 2) during a recession where money might be tight?

Well, here are few things that might not creep you out too much and be light on the wallet!

1. Have a Picnic at your favorite park or location of choice

2. Pick a romantic movie, pop open some bubbly, and cuddle under a warm fleece blanket.

3. Volunteer at a Charity Event

4. Sign up and enjoy a cooking class with a make and take restaurant.

5. The night before, prepare breakfast items to eat in bed.

6. Go on a hike and if it isn't too cold, go camping.

Truthfully, just be together with the ones you love!

Take care and Happy Valentine's to you and yours!
Valentine's Day

I haven't posted in a while, shame on me!
But I have been so busy with life that it has been hard to find time to post! But I have some more posts coming up and I'm excited to share with you!

Most of you know my husband is an expat from London and is alum from Liverpool University. His favorite alltime football league is Liverpool. For his birthday weekend, #35, we went to the Pig and Whistle in Cocoa Beach with family to watch the game against Everton. The Pig and Whistle is very much like a real English pub minus the English (I mean those who are from England). So it is always a pleasure to go there an enjoy a lite meal and a pint.

American Football and League Football (soccer) are alike and different. Probably more different than alike. Anyway, I prefer League Football over American Football. I always have, that is a different story.

Anyway, here are a few of the images from that day. For space sake I'm posting 2 and then post a link to my flickr. PS, mine is the one with the beard.
