As I begin transitioning to Feather and Form, I wanted to share with you the latest and last wedding slideshow as Jus Cowland Photography.  Enjoy.

As I move...
I've been a little busy and Sunday I was involved in a photo shoot that lasted 10 hours!  The photoshoot was for a new company, Feather and Form which I am very lucky to be a part of!
Feather and Form is a collaborative event design firm located in Cocoa Village mixing event design and planning with photography.

What you will see here is just a sampling of the day.
Thank you so much Thallo {Amazing Floral Designers and Team}, Katie & Sandra & Allyson, {Models}, Nina {Hair and Makeup} Anthony & Mike & Matt {Models and Helpers},  Margaret {Helper Extraordinare}, Ossorios {Fuel: Croissants and Coffee}, Gretchen and Joanna {MacSweets Unofficially}, Auntie Jen {Awesome Buttoner and Photoassistant}, Aunt Mary & Uncle Jeff {Rachel's Parents, my family, breakdown load up specialists}, Genevieve {The cutest 4 year old rose petal collector glitter artist} and of course Rachel Hobgood {Event Stylist Extraordinare and Feather and Form partner}!  If I left anyone out, oh my goodness I am so sorry - feel free to make me feel bad and I will buy you some cake!

{Sneak Peek} Most Recently...
I have been so completely behind in my postings! I'm so sorry guys! But I have this beautiful slideshow to share with you and the music is very Pearl-Jam-inescent.

... of myself.
I have to date, read two books!

This is an amazing fete for me, I haven't much time in the past 10 years to do much reading, but reading has become a huge pasttime in our home. The girl has picked up a series of books, and is on the 3rd series. We've always read to her and hoped she would find books she loves. She's not a girlie girl and prefers fantasy books to drama. I'm not bothered, I just want her to read!

I have just finished two books myself! The first called, The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I have to say that it was a good read. The theme has been done before, but it was a good read and it kept my interest. I had to check out the Large Print from the library because all the others had been checked out and it took forever to finish! Which is amazing because it shouldn't have taken so long, but it took about a week to read. Then I spent about 5 hours yesterday reading Lowboy, a completely opposite book from the previous and it was very captivating :)

So, I guess this means I have to stop reading magazines as my source for literally thought, and keep on with the novels. Next up is The Life of Bee's. I have to say though, I'm a bit of a book snob and design freak. I will most definitely pick one book over another because of the cover! I know I know it is horrible, but come - on, it is true! The beautiful will always win over the others... :) Next on my mental list is a Jane Austen book. I haven't ever read Jane's work, but have seen so many of the adaptations on film - I think it is high time I actually read the book and truly get to know Miss Austen.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, ciao bellas!

PS
I did sneek in a Colin Cowie book off the shelf at the library, along with a Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Entertaining book... hehehe
Really Quite Proud

I'm a little bit crazy about videos with Dance like this.

I grew up during the MTV craze and followed entertainers like Janet Jackson and Madonna trying to copy their every dance move - this however takes the cake! How awesome and creative is this?!?!?!

5 stars!

Ps
totally snagged from Beka's blog... I'm such a blogstalker!

How sweet is this?
I don't know if I will ever be able to say enough about my truly talented and gifted cousin, Beka Rendell with Innove Events and Styling. She is an amazing event stylist and planner and was recently seen on a local network show in Philly talking about what you can do with tables at your reception when it comes to brides with and without budgets.

As a photographer, my goal is to capture images that will truly speak to couples years after they say their I DO's. Being creative and adding personal touches are one way I am able to share their story. Building interest on a budget isn't hard with creativity and some diy savvy with a little inspiration from Beka's segment. This 7 minute video shows you just that! Beka gives great ideas on what to do without breaking the bank.

Joyce's Rockin Photo Session
see what happens, I dare you

So for the first 3 minutes, it looks like this guy is a little pathetic dancing his crazy dance and then even a few guys starting to dance with him and they might have even been heckling too, but watch as people start to surround this crazy dance man in a way that is complete awesomeness. Who of us really has the balls to do this? I know I don't, but this has completely changed my perception of the lonely dancing person. He created a group of followers in 3 minutes!
Stand up and dance, no matter what!

My daughter is growing up and I am loving it and hating it all at the same time! We cut her hair tonight in a super-mature-punk-the way mom used to have it- hairstyle! At 10! My mom is going to flip! Heh! I'm still a little rebellious I guess!
How do you let your Rebellion come out?

100th Post: TRASH ADORE THE PROM DRESS
{my own version, inspired by here}

Outside my window... the sun is shining through my hibiscus.

I am thinking... about the day my daughter is going to have at soccer camp and how much I am going to miss her in July.

I am thankful for... a father's day weekend that was beautiful and stress free and that on Sunday we were all together happy and enjoying each other's company.

From the kitchen... sausage casserole waiting to be devoured and preparing the menu tonight for the Filet Minot that we got an awesome deal on.

I am wearing... a tank, yoga pants, and flops.

I am creating... a contest for DIY Brides and getting my head around and idea I want to do.

I am going...to organize my magazines today.

I am reading... The Tao of Pooh.

I am hoping... it doesn't get too hot today.

I am hearing ... nothing, and it sounds beautiful.

Around the house... the couch is waiting to go to charity shoppes, the kitchen floor needs to be mopped severely, and all is calm.

One of my favorite things... the way the summer sun wakes me in the morning, casting a soft glow in my bedroom like a warm smile.

A few plans for the rest of the week... to learn to just be, organize the dining room, rearrange the living room, a few photo sessions and various appointments, and lots of snuggles, hugs, and kisses to the girl who's going to be with her grandparents for a month.

What can you say so far about today?

-ciao bellas
For Today...
Today's Challenge:
Where can I shoot in this town?
Found, DT T'ville
So I decided to grab the family for some outside shots and use my local area as the back drop. We didn't stay out too long, but long enough to capture some beauties - here are a few!

Just a Teaser for Trisha!

Isn't she gorgeous! It was an incredibly HOT and BRIGHT day on the beach, but it was so gorgeous and she rocked the shoot! Can't wait for our URBAN session!!

Maternity Session
To those who follow my blog, you know this is a personal space for me as well as where I share my work as my work is personal to me. But just like you may work in a career or a job, so do I.

I have challenges everyday and in running a business outside of creating and capturing, the challenges I speak of are much different than you think.

It is up to me to become better than I was the time before, to exceed my own expetactions, to do better and be better, and to create something that REALLY speaks to me as well as my clients.

That challenge is harder than any other aspect of running a business. A business is logical, my work is emotional - it is a record and a moment captured in the digital frame of my camera for you to have as a memory forever - and that is hard and so rewarding.

I'm writing this because I've been introduced to a photographer who is simply amazing. He is challenging me from my website to my work to work harder and produce images that are an expression of not just me but of who you are. I am challenging myself to go further and do more.

This is a promise; a hold my breathe, close my eyes, and jump kinda promise.

Ciao Bellas
Everyday Challenges
What does that mean?
In the next coming months leading up to the new year our studio will be phasing into a completely paperless (documents) office, our clients will see an increase in reusable media for their images, and we will be using a percentage of dedicated power from Wind and Solar energy.

Next month we hope to have a breakdown of what we are currently doing to expose ourselves to better environmental acts and we will also have an environmental impact statement that will be available online.

Yes, the current trend is to be a GREEN company. And we've been a green company and household for the past 15 years, but technology has made it easier for us to increase the green in our home and business. We are also responding to our own values as consumers and want to be an example to others.

It isn't JUST about recycling and not wasting, it is also about being responsible for the condition this planet for the future because I want our children to have children who love the world we left them.
A new greener direction
I wanna this house...
Or at least to make my house look like this house. Isn't it dreamy? Well, not to all - but to me I am a sucker for modernism. I love clean lines and sharp edges, though you wouldn't know it being a guest in my house :) I have vintage beauties all over. I guess old habits die hard, but if I had a million bucks, my house would be so mod-fab oh yes dahlings. Perhaps when we move back to London and Bethnal Green (pronounced Befnal Green - thanks Robin).

Wanna see more, ya I know I did too :)

Foaming at the mouth
First off let me say that I met some of the most fantastic brides yesterday, THANK YOU ALL FOR STOPPING BY MY BOOTH! MUAH!!

Now on to the celebrity sitings. First I met Damon Tucci, he is a rockstar photographer. Seriously. Ok Ok he's not a "real" celebrity, but he is in my eyes. I think he heard me gawking about him as he was walking booth to booth taking pictures. He was a huge sponsor yesterday for the event and sponsored a bridal lounge in the reception area of the Sun Ballroom at Gaylord Palms. I got a sneakpeak of it and I was blown away. He came over, after I gawked at him and pointed and squealed a little to my husband - "psst... that's him, that's Damon Tucci!" I said like a school girl. He was so nice and kind, I didn't ask for an autograph but I was totally fumbling all over myself. Swoon.

Second celebrity siting. Jason and Sarah from Concept Photography. I had walked over to see them a few times, but didn't get the opportunity to throw myself at them. I had sent them both a comment a long long long time ago on their blog and got a response back, but my reaction was more yea right, like they would even want to talk to me. Well, Jason totally came over and talked to me. Thank GAWD the lighting was low because I was a complete strawberry, blushing. He and his wife are awesome, so sweet and adorable. Yay!

But, I would like to give a special shoutout to all those brides out there who were so excited to see me and for me to see them! It was amazing. I met with the best women and their fiances. I had the best time. I will post a picture of my booth later, but I went so simple that I was afraid no one would care to speak to me. I was so wrong and so glad about it!

I'm doing my final event of this year, yep even though it is only halfway over, this Saturday at Creative Wedding Designs in Orlando from 5 - 9pm. Come out and check out this place. It is going to be AMAZAZING! I can't wait!!

Ciao Bellas!!
I met some celebrities...
Newborn session today with 10 week old Nathan and Mommy Julie and Dad Scott.
He's definetly too cute... too cute...
Thanks so much for letting me spend part of your memorial day with you! It was so special!!

Little baby Nathan...
I would pick a new name. Such as, Colette.
Or.
I would pick a new identity when my daughter leaves for her own journey. Such as, Colette.
Or.
I would find a cute small furry beast and name her Colette.

At any rate, Colette is such a beautiful name. Whenever I hear it or speak it I think of my most favorite flower EVER in the history of flowers I have loved, rinoculous photo credit Kathy Tarantola

This is completely random, just like life's little moments.

Pssst
The hubby has a j o b interview tomorrow with an organization that does great research, fingers crossed :)

Ciao Bellas
If I could I would...
Tight = fresh = awesome = cool = sweet = fab.

What I did today and what I have seen can be described as every word above.

First, I met with Robin from S.C.O.R.E. today. He was fantastic, British, and so honest with me! I loved having a refreshing conversation about all the ways to run my business and how I can grow and am looking forward to learning more from him in the future!

And then I find this from Fine Little Day...

...

I have the weekend off and so it is time to get to crackin on moving the house 'round a bit. I and my assistant are going to be sharing an office with my husband so I can take back my dining room, and then I will be finishing up painting some furniture I got for the house and then I will be cleaning out the garage and maybe working a little on my lawn - depending on the heat.

I'm really excited because I haven't had an opportunity like this in a while to just spend some time working on my house :)

Have a great weekend!!

These are tight...
In my house we've been passing the cold.

I thought I would take a break and pass along some great finds online.

Super cute items they find and show off, they have an Etsy Store too where they show off their DIY's and handmades!

I'm getting a new banner for my blog and website... I have seen the prelim and let me tell you dah-lings it is oh-so-fab!!!!

And yes, the website is going through a mini-redesign. It is just taking too long to load! And something isn't quite right!!!

Will hopefully be debuting the banner this week!!
Super Excited
As adults we complicate things to the inth degree.

This chick is fab and 15. Her work is inspiring. It speaks to me, and the one thing that it really says is STOP COMPLICATING THINGS!!!

Super Inspired

Editing + Music.

I have to have the music on while I edit. When circumstances arise that cause me to put the headphones on - like tonight when family is watching movies and I am editing... I wish I had old-skool stereophonics big-A headphones because seriously my beats are wicked...

On my playlist tonight and most nights until I hear something better...

I love new music. I love hard music. Crunchy. Techno. Soft. R&B. House. Silly... I just like it if its good. If its good it's on my playlist.
Truth be told I am procrastinating.
I am almost done editing my last images and yet I just want to dance... is that bad???

Hehehe
"...You can dance if you want to..."
To hell with all that rubbish...

Here are a few things I bought this week... totaling under $100!

The two frames shown in the picture... cute and decorative need minor cleaning and maybe repainting
Cost $35 for both

Eiffel Tower... found at Marshall's, have been wanting to collect them for years and they really aren't something that is easy to find everyday... $14.99

Two Globes... also a fan of vintage looking globes, again these aren't your everyday decor items and can be expensive but bought at auction... $10 for both

Wood and Vinyl rocking chair to be used as a prop or part of decor, but probably not... $30

$85 total, and super cute stuff can't wait to use it!!!
This Week's Things...
I felt compelled today to think about why I do what I do.

I love it, yes. Is that why I do what I do?
I am good at it, yes. Is that why I do what I do?
My style is unique, yes. Is that why I do what I do?

I am a photographer for those reasons and more.
I am excited about it. I am an artist. I want to create create create all the time. But...
I am also a storyteller and a visual biographer who documents life as it happens.
I am passionate about it. I don't hesitate when people ask me what I do. "I'm a photographer."

I also do it because I wanted to provide something more than the chain portrait studio experience. I wanted kids to be kids, moms and dads to document their happiness and love, babies to be babies, brides and grooms to feel butterflies one more time, high school seniors to have portraits that they can cherish 20 years from now. To provide something that was more.

Because I'm an old soul and a new soul. Because I make music with my photographs. Because it is where I belong.

All these reasons and more are why I photograph.
And why I love it.
Why I am a Photographer.

This will end up being a print, mounted, and then hopefully framed. Another for the studio.

Currently Working On

I LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about set design.

In fact, one of my commercial ventures {to be played out in the future} is to photograph interiors and exteriors commercially.

But, THIS has tugged on my heart strings... I LOVE THIS... I want to do this... it is on my list of things to do... set design... for photography!!! WHAT??!>!?!?!?!?!?

This tear-sheet is from Design Aglow's issue #7... so yummy and so rich... so inspirational...
O M G!!!
Can I just tell you that I have been DOG SICK since Saturday?
First the hubster was sick, then me, now we are waiting for the kiddo to catch this monsterous cold! And it is raining... oh and I burnt myself with steam... STEAM!! Being sick and not paying attention to which way the kettle is turned is a bad move.

But you know what, I got a lovely surprise today! Something completely unexpected, and it was great!

I have been not-so-anonymously following my cousin Rachel's blog here, http://myfirstheadache.blogspot.com/. She is renovating a lovely Spanish style home {so jealous} and I have been poking around to see how things are going. Our family dynamics are not one of "closeness" but that's ok - because we're mover and shakers and we do what we can. Well, she is so sweet! Because when I got up and noticed that my RSS feed for her had a new post - it was about me!

AWE. {sniff} She is adorable. I could probably talk for days about our childhood at our grandparent's house, her cats, and her cutie-patootie daughter. But let me just say that it was such a sweet thing for her to post about me :)

And YES Rae, I will take pictures of your awesome house when it is through :)

Ciao Bellas!

PS My other cousin, and Rachel's sister Beka is a fantastic wedding planner in Philly. If you are planning a Philly wedding or not and want someone who is stylish, fabulous, and detail oriented take a look at her website/business http://www.innoveevents.com and blog http://innoveevents.blogspot.com
My Day
This year was a light year for the Easter Bunny. He brought eggs hidden round the house full of money, 3 of them were special soccer ball eggs containing a dollar a piece! Of course, there was some snickering as to how the bunny managed to poop them out...

{notice the tag still on the cake platter...}

the girl didn't wake up until 930... which was amazing really considering her treasure trove waiting for her.

then grandma appeared at the door bearing a gift of a vibrating midget bunny doll thing that played music.

Of course the bunny had to come with her to the Imax viewing of Monsters v. Aliens. We think the bunny made it fine.

At first dear girl found the floppy eared bunny box to be disturbing, until she peaked inside and found chocolate covered potato chips.

And here is the money lined up for counting that the Easter Bunny left for her.

She has a tooth that just won't budge and we were hoping that the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy would bring her multiple gifts early Sunday morning. But no such luck. Apparently though we did learn something interesting about the relationship between our dentist and the tooth fairy, seems like there may be some kick-backs happening...

Hope your Easter was terrific!
Easter
http://www.uusc.org/blog/entry/1877/rape_law_afghanistan

This is seriously disturbing.
A few months ago a friend and I were talking about all things political, and we spoke about some marches that she had attended years and years ago. I told her I had always wanted to raise a banner somewhere but was fearful for my family if I did so. Fearful because my husband is not from this country and because I share my daughter with her father and wouldn't want him to take her away.

Am I doing my daughter or the causes that need so much help any justice?

I lead a good life; I pay my taxes, obey the law, even waited in line to receive word that my husbands' residency had been approved, I don't lie - cheat - or steal, I believe everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, and I don't judge. But is this enough? Should I be punished by fear to not do the right thing?

When I was younger I ran an enviromental club. I was the only active member. Others in our group wanted the credit to put forward to colleges, and I'm sure it helped. But I did all the grunt work. It was very satisfying and made an impact in a low-key way.

I'm here to do that again.
This law that Afghanistan has passed is an abomination to the sacredness of the female body and those rights we have to our bodies. For *ANY* country to pass laws to the affect that we are NO LONGER in control of our body and that any man or woman has the right to make that decision for us, is also an abomination to the sanctity of Human Rights. Whether it be the difficult choice to make in regards to giving birth to the option we have when it comes to what does and does not constitute rape. NO ONE has the right, no one. And to be completely honest it breaks my heart and pains me in such a way that it is almost indescribable to fathom how anyone could allow this.

I can't make a huge change, I am not in a position to do that. I am in a position to make a small change. I can make a difference because I believe that what has happened in the past and is happening now is a travesty to the human race.
Afghanistan's New Law
I love fresh design that kicks arse. This place makes me wanna drive to miami and sign my fat arse up!http://www.crunch.com/ They even have LIVE DJ's playing while you workit. Um hello, yes. But noooooh we can't have that 'round these parts! We have to drive to miami... we should walk. Because by the time we get there, we'll be so skinny we'll want to be in the gym because face it, gyms are for skinny people - like Trix is for Kids... Gyms are for Skinny B*tches. :)
